BeforeWePlay

Your Privacy is Non-Negotiable

We built BeforeWePlay with a radical commitment to privacy. Your intimate data is yours alone — we never see it, store it, or sell it.

How your data stays private

localStorage only

Your checklist answers, selected categories, and results are saved to your browser's localStorage — a private storage area that only your browser can access. No network requests are made with your data.

No accounts required

You never need to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal information. We don't know who you are, and we designed it that way.

HTTPS encryption

All connections to BeforeWePlay use TLS encryption. Even the static pages you view are transmitted securely. But since we never receive your intimate data, there's nothing sensitive in transit.

You control deletion

Click 'Start Over' in any tool to permanently delete your data. Or clear your browser's site data. Once deleted, it's gone — because it was only ever on your device.

What we don't collect

Most privacy policies tell you what data they collect. We think it's more useful to tell you what we don't collect:

Your name or identity
Your email address
Your IP address
Your checklist answers
Your location
Your browsing history
Device fingerprints
Usage analytics
Cookies for tracking
Third-party scripts
Social media data
Any personally identifiable info

What we do

Serve static web pages over HTTPS
Store your data locally in your browser
Give you full control over your data
Let you delete everything with one click
Keep our code minimal and auditable
Build tools that work without an internet connection

Technical details

Storage mechanism

We use the browser's localStorage API to persist your checklist state. This data is:

  • Sandboxed to our domain only
  • Never transmitted over the network
  • Automatically cleared when you clear browser data
  • Limited to approximately 5MB per domain

Network behavior

After the initial page load, our tools make zero network requests. All interaction happens entirely within your browser. You can verify this by opening your browser's Developer Tools and watching the Network tab while using the checklist.

Static generation

BeforeWePlay is a statically generated site. Every page is pre-built at deploy time, which means there is no server-side processing of requests and no database of user data. This architecture makes a data breach impossible — because there is no data to breach.

Frequently asked questions

Do you store any of my checklist answers?

No. All your checklist ratings, selected categories, and results are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. Our servers never receive, process, or store any of your personal data or answers.

Can anyone else see my results?

Only someone with physical access to your device and browser could see your results. We don't create accounts, so there's nothing to log into and no profile to find. You can delete all stored data at any time by clicking 'Start Over' in the tool or clearing your browser data.

Do you use cookies or tracking?

We do not use tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or any form of user identification. We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking service.

Is the connection to your website encrypted?

Yes. Our entire site is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption, meaning all data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit. But since we don't collect your data in the first place, encryption is simply an additional layer of protection.
